The Sikkim Premier Division League (also known as Probo Sikkim Premier Division League for sponsorship reasons) is the highest state-level football league in Sikkim, India, organised by Sikkim Football Association.[1][2] United Sikkim FC is the most successful club with three league titles.

History

Sikkim Premier Division League

The current top-tier league in Sikkim, also known as the Sikkim A Division League, was started by the Sikkim Football Association in 2011 with 8 teams.[1] The league was suspended in 2019, following a dispute between the Football Players Association of Sikkim (FCAS) and the SFA.[3] The state league eventually resumed in 2023.[2]

Sikkim Premier League

The Sikkim Premier League is the men's franchise football league in Sikkim, held after longtime inactivity of the top tier due to SFA disputes. The first season under the new league name started in 2023, organised by the Football Development Private Limited and the Sikkim Football Association.[4]

In order to revive competitive football in the state, a new franchise league was developed by the former regional footballers under the banner of Football Development Private Limited (FDPL). The league is sponsored by Teesta Urja Limited and the Government of Sikkim.[4][5] The league includes teams from different districts of Sikkim in order to provide a pan-state and more competitive structure.[6]

The inaugural season was won by Sikkim Aakraman who defeated Singling Sporting Club.
