Ramazan Zhalmakhanov is a Kazakhstani chess player.

Chess career

Zhalmakhanov played in the FIDE Online Chess Olympiad 2021 as part of Kazakhstan's juniors team. The team faced the American team in the first quarterfinals, where Zhalmakhanov defeated Awonder Liang.[1] The team took first place in Group A of the Top Division.[2]

Zhalmakhanov played for Kazakhstan in the team section of the 2022 Asian Games. They faced India in the third round, where he held super-grandmaster Arjun Erigaisi to a draw.[3]

Zhalmakhanov competed in the FIDE Grand Swiss Tournament 2023.[4] In the first two rounds of the event, he defeated Alan Pichot and Bassem Amin, both of whom were rated over 200 points higher than him.[5]
