Pteron (Gr. πτερον, "wing") is an architectural term meaning the external colonnade around a building, especially an Ancient Greek temple.[1] The pteroma or peristasis is the passage between the columns and the wall in a temple,[2] the peristyle that in an inward-facing courtyard or garden.[3]
