Early life and education

Patrick Bet-David was born on October 18, 1978, in Tehran, in the former Imperial State of Iran.[5][6] He is of Assyrian (paternal line) and Armenian (maternal line) descent. On July 15, 1989, he and his family fled from the country, seeking to escape the continuing effects of the Islamic Revolution. Settling first in a refugee camp in Germany for two years,[7] they subsequently relocated to the United States, arriving in Glendale, California, on November 28, 1990.[8] Following his graduation from high school, Bet-David enlisted in the U.S. Army and served with the 101st Airborne Division for three years.[9][8] He briefly attended Santa Monica College, studying nutrition, but dropped out to pursue his career. Later, he attended the Executive Education Program, a series of seminars offered through the Harvard Business School, where executives and companies seeking leadership skills pay to learn how to reach their potential. He is fluent in his native languages of Persian, Armenian and Aramaic in addition to English and German.[10]

Career

During his time as an undergraduate at Santa Monica College,[11] Bet-David worked as a membership marketer at a local Bally Total Fitness.[7] Later, he dropped out and pursued his career working for Morgan Stanley and then for Transamerica Corporation.[11]

Entrepreneurship

Bet-David began his first company, PHP Agency Inc., in 2009,[8][12] PHP being an acronym for People Helping People.[12] The agency serves to provide life insurance and annuity services to customers in the United States.[13] In August 2017, PHP secured $10 million in expansion financing through Ambina Partners and Atalaya Capital Management, with additional support from Brener International Group and former boxer Oscar De La Hoya.[14] In 2019, Jordan Peterson, Kobe Bryant and former U.S. president George W. Bush were keynote speakers at PHP's annual conference.[15]

In December 2020, Bet-David sold a 1979–80 O-Pee-Chee rookie card of Wayne Gretzky graded Gem Mint 10 by the Professional Sports Authenticator, making it the first hockey card to surpass $1 million in value.[16][17][18]

In 2022, Bet-David and PHP Agency partnered with Integrity Marketing Group.[19] The partnership involved Integrity's acquisition of PHP Agency, with the aim to use Integrity's resources and technology to help more Americans achieve financial security. Bet-David would become a Managing Partner at Integrity as part of this agreement.[20] He has challenged Anthony Fauci and Travis Kelce to debate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Aaron Rodgers for $10 million.

In 2023, Bet-David became a part owner of the New York Yankees.[21][22]

Bet-David founded and hosts the YouTube channel, Valuetainment, since 2012. The channel has 5 million subscribers and over 919 million views.[3] He additionally founded the channel PBD Podcast, which has 1.4 million subscribers and was founded in 2020.[4] Both his channels feature interviews with successful people from a variety of industries, including business, sports, entertainment, and politics, and his guests often share their personal stories, insights, and advice. Bet-David hosted Kobe Bryant's last interview before the latter's death.[23][24] It was in this interview that Bryant hinted that Shaquille O'Neal would be the greatest basketball player of all time if he had his work ethic in the Shaq–Kobe feud.[25][26] He has also interviewed George W. Bush, Jordan Peterson, Vivek Ramaswamy, Kevin Hart, Ray Dalio, Michael Franzese, Sammy Gravano, John McAfee, and Andrew Tate on his channel.[12][27] MMA fighters Georges St-Pierre, Khabib Nurmagomedov and Dustin Poirier[28] and body building legends Ronnie Coleman and Phil Heath have also been interviewed on his podcast.[29]

Bet-David advocates for people to drop out of college, build a business and network, and then return back to the university with an advantage.[7] In 2017, he wrote the book Drop Out and Get Schooled: The Case for Thinking Twice about College.[35] The book was co-authored by Thomas N.
