Maximilian Dirr grew up in Germany and Italy. From 2004 to 2007, he studied English and Spanish at La Sapienza University in Rome. From 2007 to 2010, Dirr studied acting at the "Teatro Stabile di Genova" State Academy of Dramatic Arts in Genoa, where he obtained his acting diploma.[2]

He then took up his first permanent engagement at the Teatro Stabile di Genova, where he had already performed during his studies. He made his official stage debut there after his training as Alexander in Le Diable en partage by Fabrice Melquiot. He also played the military doctor Chebutykin in Three Sisters at the Teatro Stabile di Genova in Italian.[3] In 2014, he appeared at the Teatro della Tosse in Genoa in the theater project Trenofermo a Katzelmacher (based on the Fassbinder film Katzelmacher by Dario Aita and Elena Gigliotti) in the leading role as Katzelmacher. In April 2014, he made a guest appearance with this production at the Teatro Astra in Venice.[4]
