Maher Bitar serves as Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Intelligence Programs on the White House’s a National Security Council staff.[1] He served in both the Barack Obama and Joe Biden administrations. He is Palestinian.[2]

Bihar has a Master's degree from Oxford University, where he was a Marshall Scholar.[1] He studied at Georgetown Law School.[1] He was a legal representative for U.S. Representative Adam Schiff.[3]

He succeeds Michael Ellis.[4]

He has written about political organizing among Palestinian refugees.[5] He has worked for the U.S. government since 2011 when he was a student trainee.[6]
