Brigadier General Ibrahim Sheikh Muhyadin Addow, born in Mogadishu, Somalia, in 1960, is a Somali military general and now Chief of the Somali National Army.
Personal life
Brigadier General Ibrahim Sheikh Muhyadin Addow was born in Mogadishu in 1960. He received his primary and secondary education at Hamar Jadid Primary and Secondary School in Mogadishu in 1977.[1]
In 1977, he joined the Somali National Army.
In 1981, he received his high school certificate from Wajir High School in Mogadishu.
In the same year, 1981, he joined the training of officers at the Somali National Army Academy in Mogadishu and received his Second Lieutenant in 1984.[2]
In 1984, he graduated from Academy and received First Lieutenant.
In 1986, he received junior staff college leadership training at the Somali National Army Academy and was promoted to the rank of captain.[3]
In 1988, he took advanced training and was promoted to the rank of sergeant.
In 1990, he was promoted to the rank of lieutenant colonel.
In the same year 1990, he left the Language Institute of the Somali National Army.[4]
Career
Before the collapse, he worked in the leadership and in various sections of the Somali National Army, reaching the rank of Commander-in-Chief.
He was also one of the athletes on the Wagad team.
In 1991, he worked with the Transitional Government.[5]
In 2003, he worked with the Transitional Government and was promoted to Lieutenant.
From 2003 to 2008, he was a businessman.
In 2008, he became the chairman of Benadir, the mayor of Mogadishu, and the chairman of the committee for the establishment of the regional council of the Benadir region.[6]
In 2012–2015, he was the head of protocol for the president of the country.[7]
In 2015–2017, he was promoted to the rank of Brigadier General and became the Commander of the Presidential Brigade.[8]
In 2023, he was appointed commander of the Somali National Army.
