Chaupal is an over-the-top (OTT) streaming service owned by Bosna Digital Limited and launched by PitaaraTV. It was officially inaugurated in August 2021, it provides entertainment content predominantly in Punjabi, Haryanvi, and Bhojpuri.[1]

Chaupal, traditionally a term for communal gathering spaces in South Asia, denotes an online entertainment platform in its contemporary usage. This digital venue curates a selection of movies and web series, with a particular focus on regional Indian languages including Punjabi, Bhojpuri, and Haryanvi.[2]

History

Chaupal was established by the Punjabi movie channel Pitaara TV. The OTT provides entertainment content in three regional languages - Punjabi, Haryanvi, and Bhojpuri.[3]

Availability and Access

Global Availability

The Chaupal OTT platform is available globally. iOS users can access the app in all countries except France and China. Android and Android TV users can enjoy the platform in all countries except China. Amazon users can access the app worldwide. Samsung device users can access the app in all countries except Brazil and China.

Subscriptions

Customers have the flexibility to choose different subscription plans offered by Chaupal OTT, which they claim are designed to cater to specific preferences and needs. The distinctions between these plans are around video resolution, the number of simultaneous streams allowed, and the number of devices on which content can be downloaded.

Device Support

Chaupal is India's first multi-regional OTT platform to have been globally published on all devices on its launch day itself. Chaupal can be accessed via a web browser or via application software installed on smart TVs, set-top boxes connected to televisions, tablet, computers, and smartphones. Chaupal OTT is compatible with various platforms and devices, including JIO STB, CloudOS, Xiaomi MI PIG, Vewd, Foxxum, WebOS (LG), and Tizen (Samsung) - offering a versatile and widespread viewing experience.

Content

Chaupal's content library features exclusive movies, web series, and short films in Punjabi, Haryanvi, and Bhojpuri languages. On its launch day, Chaupal released 12 originals (films and web series), 50 exclusive titles, and over 300 movies.[4]
