Bhomiya or Bhomia (in Marwari- भोमिया रजपूत.[1]) was a class of Rajput community in Rajasthan[2] found in Jalore, Sanchore, Pali, Sirohi, Jodhpur and Barmer District[3][4]. The term Bhomia has been used exclusively for the Zamindars of Rajput clans in Rajasthan[5][6] . Bhomiya Rajput was not different caste from Rajput it was the title given to Rajput who owned Right of Bhom(land owner ship).[7]

History

Bhomia Rajputs were also those people who sacrificed their lives for the protection of the Ruling state and in the return of their bravery they were provided Bhom(land) by the Ruling state[8].There was a act of Nature of Bhom Rights during the 17th century in Marwar state that term Bhom defined as hereditary landed estate held free of assessment. The holder of such land was know as Bhomia.[9] There are many Feudal in Marwar where Bhomiya Rajputs like Chauhans of Sanchore area. There are 106 village of Jalore was win by Bhomiya Rajputs self power[2]. After Sometime the Ruling Rajputs considered these cognate Bhomiyas as second level Rajputs and did not make Marital relationship with them[10]
